No Fruit Waste with Jam

Apple or any other fruit you have extra at home.

Since the lockdown started back in March, I started to rethink the way I shop, as I've always wanted to support small businesses and now was the right moment. Supermarkets were getting empty by the crazy stockpilers and I wanted to still be able to find good quality fruit & veggies. I came across Pale Green Dot and start ordering their fresh boxes. The products are seasonal and super fresh, and it always brings two types of fruits. Lately, I have been receiving a lot of apples and oranges, but I have to be honest, I'm not a huge apple fan unless is in sweets. So what could I do with the apples that would last and help me not to waste food?! Apple Jam!!

This lockdown has taught me that the things I found complicated to do, are actually much easier than in my head!

You can do this jam with any fruit you have in your fridge

  • 500gr of fruit

  • juice from 1 lemon (around 5ml)

  • 250gr of sugar

  • optional: 1 tbsp of cinnamon

Peel the apples and cut in small pieces into a blender and grind them into a puree consistency. In a pot add the apple puree, the sugar, the lemon juice, and the cinnamon (if you like it). Stir while in medium heat until you start having a more liquid consistency. Once done, place in a jar with a hermetic lid and turn the jar upside down for 10mins. Once cooled down, you can store in a dry, cool place and once open, in the fridge.

Enjoy! Love, B
