Get to know me a bit better and what is this blog about.
Hi everyone, let me introduce myself (for the ones who don't know me yet) and explain why I have created this blog and what I'm going to share over my posts.
My name is Beatriz and I'm originally from Lisbon, Portugal. Beatrix Muguet has been chosen as my alias, being Muguet this little flower down here that has a meaningful story behind. Muguet, in English known as Lily of the Valley, is a symbol of love and affection. It's said that in the mid-1500s, they have been given as a present to King Charles IX by knight Louis Girard to symbolise good luck prosperity for the coming year. King Charles IX retributed by offering them to every lady in his court, in May (month of my birth). Nowadays, the gesture remains and it is given on the 1st of May to wish our loved ones, good luck.
I've always loved nature and Green must be the colour that suits me best for all the different meanings it has. For some years now, I've been trying to find ways to reduce my impact on the environment and leave a greener footprint on Earth. I know how difficult it can be sometimes, or even overwhelming to break certain routines or change things we are used to already and that's where I want to help! I'm not the perfect zero-waste person, as I struggle sometimes to find vegetables or fruit not wrapped in plastic and there are sustainable products that are not as economic as others; however, I truly believe that if we all do something, if we all become imperfectly sustainable, little by little, we can all do much and the impact will be big. That's halfway to start improving!
I've been living in the UK for the last 4 years and a year ago I've faced my biggest challenge so far. I found myself in a deep depression and ended up in the hospital with an anaphylactic attack which was extremely scary. Since then I have been more mindful, more aware and a mental health advocate and I want to help you be more aware too!
Since I've been blogging that traveling has been my main subject, and because it's one of my true passions, I didn't want to leave it aside. I'm not a full-time traveler, but I'm a wanderer by nature and I'll love to share my adventures and experiences with you.
